This short play was first performed as part of a workshop production of King of the United States, directed by the author at Theater for the New City in May, 1972.
EXCERPT
MAN DOCTOR: Harold, are you sick or not sick?
HAROLD: Who?
WOMAN DOCTOR: Patient claims illness. However there is no visible external evidence of disappearance upon casual observation....
MAN DOCTOR (cutting off Harold, the dummy’s, foot): Foot.
WOMAN DOCTOR (receiving it): Foot.
MAN DOCTOR: Pending further examination in lab, normal and fit.
WOMAN DOCTOR: Foot normal and fit.
