EXCERPT

ROCK: Hey! Elevator!! Hold it!!!

(He rushes to the elevator and reaches it just in time to hold the door open and squeeze in scrunched nose to nose with –)

ROCK: Oh. Hi.

DORIS: Hello, Just Rock.

ROCK: Almost didn’t make it.

DORIS (putting on her sexy expression): Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

ROCK: Kind of crowded in here.

DORIS (still with sexy face): Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Rock: Am I crowding you?

DORIS (with her "proper" face): No, I’m fine.

ROCK: I could maybe move my arm down a little this way.

DORIS (with her "extremely proper" face): Don’t bother, Mr. Rock.

ROCK: Just Rock.

DORIS (with her "relenting" face): Okay, Just Rock.

ROCK: Gee, I’ve never been so glad the studios are sixty-five floors up.

DORIS (her coy face): Oh, and why’s that, Rock?

ROCK: Well, it gives me a chance to talk to a star.

DORIS (her simple face): Oh, Rock, I’m not a star. Sarah Bernhardt, now that’s a star. I’m really nothing but a television, radio, theatre and motion picture actress doing her best. And really underneath, well, I’m just the girl from DuBuque....
